Stem borer larvae tunnel into main trunk and branches, causing wilting, branch death and tree decline.

How to spot it

Round holes in trunk with frass. Sudden wilting of shoots. Sawdust at tree base.

Prevention

Avoid mechanical injury. Remove and burn infested wood. Paint trunk with Bordeaux paste.

Organic treatment

Insert cotton wool soaked in kerosene into holes. Seal with mud. Apply neem cake at base.
